NIK filters used in conjunction with Photoshop are a quick and effective method of adding targeted adjustments to your editing workflow. We will use Nik Color Efex to mix different layer effects from the library to create and save our own personal recipes. Nik Viveza enables the user to make a variety of adjustments to small areas of an image and we will explore how it works in conjunction with Photoshop layers . Other filters in the Nik collection include Silver Efex, Define and Sharpener, HDR Efex, Analog Efex and Perspective Efex. Students should have the collection loaded on their computer before the class.

Course will be directed by 2 Master Photographers and will focus on photographing people using available light and/or off-camera flash. Beginners and intermediate skill level photographers alike are a good fit for this course. Camera settings necessary for portrait photography will be demonstrated and applied. What equipment is necessary for various situations? We will explore using scrims, reflectors and flash, positioning the subject in the best locations in and outdoors to make a good image. You don't always need off-camera lighting and in some situations you must have it. Although one is not necessary for the class, usage of a light meter and importance of using one in certain situations will be demonstrated. You may use the instructor's meter to learn and try before you buy. Attendees that have access to a Godox compatible flash trigger for their camera should bring it. In lieu of a Godox trigger attendees can bring their own flash system, simply an on-camera flash or concentrate on the ambient light part of the course.
