The MDPPA annual convention is coming up, and in preparation for our pre-convention advanced photoshop class, MDPPA Member Bruce Press will be presenting a photoshop class for those who want to shore up their skills in order to be ready for this class. Or if you just want to shore up your skills, this class is for you!

Photoshop: The Basics

Is your creativity constrained by someone else's vision? If you don't have a basic working knowledge of Photoshop, it may be.

Photoshop is a very deep toolbox with so many menu options, parameters, hidden features and add-ons that many photographers are daunted and decide it isn't worth it. This class hopes to give you a basic understanding of the product's layout and features so that you have what you need to take the next step. Whether it is a Youtube tutorial, your own exploration or a Richard Sturdevant class.

We will cover, at a minimum:

application layout and organization
layers
masks
blending modes
selection
adjustment layers

Time permitting, we will introduce some advanced topics particularly important to photographers:

Actions
Frequency Separation
Dodge and Burn strategies

You can be a photographer in 2019 without at least a basic knowledge of Photoshop. But, should you?

Bio:

Bruce F Press has been involved in photography his whole life. He first learned creative opportunities don't end in the camera at his father's elbow in the darkroom. Through the years he has set fire to plastic models, got too close to sharks and splattered $4000 worth of equipment on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial on his photographic journey. Today, he continues to expand his understanding and expression every day for clients and himself.

Bruce F Press is a Certified Professional Photographer and, coincidentally, the owner of Bruce F Press Photography. He has been taking money from clients for almost a decade and dodging a day job for almost five years.
