Program Description:

Light Painting is a relatively simple way to give your clients a product that will wow them and anyone who sees it.  In the class, we will cover the process in full, from thoughts about angles to time of day, and from color theory to the camera settings that will give you the best results.  We will shoot tethered and build a final image in real time while you are watching.  I will let volunteers man the lights and we will talk through the thought process one image at the time.  As we shoot I will explain how to combine images seamlessly.  We will also talk about some of the pitfalls you may encounter as well as the shortcuts I have discovered over the years.  As with all of my classes, this class is your class.  All questions are welcomed and please feel free to take photos/videos as needed for you to refer back to.   (The image making part of this class will take place outside, so please dress for the weather!)

Adrian Henson's Bio:

Adrian Henson and his wife Heather operate their studio in New Bern NC. They began their journey into photography in 2001 and never looked back. While their studio covers the usual range of clients, the heart of their business is High School Seniors, dance students and Commercial clients.  Adrian's images have received many awards from State, Regional and International competitions including a photographer of the year awards in 2011, 2012 and the Diamond award in 2013.  Adrian has earned his Master of Photography, master of Electronic Imaging, and Craftsman Degrees and now has enough loan collection images to receive the coveted Image Excellence award. Adrian has also earned his Masters from SWPP UK.

Adrian has a degree in Mechanical Drafting and Design and utilized those skills as a project manager for the first eight years of his professional life. In 2001(after many years of not having any creative outlet), Adrian discovered his love for photography. While the change from project manager to photographer was huge, the skills and talents learned in his design training proved useful in both careers.

He is a self-described "hobbyist" and is always on the lookout for new and exciting hobbies to explore. From aquariums to metal detecting, and from cave exploring to sailing, he's been involved in almost too many hobbies to count! While photography began as a hobby, it was the "one" that stuck with him and rocked him to the core. Many of his hobbies came and went, but photography quickly evolved into much more, it became a core passion that will define him forever. Every hobby now seems to revolve around and come back to photography, and Adrian always finds a way to combine new hobbies with his love of photography.

Today, Adrian is heavily involved with his state organization (Professional Photographers of North Carolina) as well as being a PPA Councilor. He
regularly travels while teaching and speaking and is an International Photographic Competition Juror in Training. He is very committed to photographic competition and has been honored with the Diamond, Platinum, Gold and Bronze awards as well as North Carolina's Photographer of the Year award two years in a row and SEPPA's Best in Show, just to name a few. Adrian considers competition the greatest informal education around and owes the bulk of his photographic success to it.

Adrian is also devoted to making photography better. He encourages sharing and openness among professionals and believes that "the rising tide lifts all ships." He believes that through education, we can return confidence back to the photography profession.
